ÇéÉ«ÎåÔÂÌì, Reno Extension and their certified Master Gardeners are holding a variety of events in southern ÇéÉ«ÎåÔÂÌì through the end of August. Although many scheduled events have been disrupted by COVID-19, summer gardening can still be accomplished at home and by observing recommended social distancing guidelines.

Classes and events include:

  • Master Gardener Help Desk — Extension Master Gardeners are providing free assistance to gardeners who call with gardening questions. The help desk is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 702-257-5555 or email LVMasterGardeners@unce.unr.edu. Because of health restrictions, calls may not be answered right away, but leave a voicemail, and volunteers will be in touch.
  • Gardening in Small Places — July 11, 9 to 11 a.m., via Zoom. These monthly classes highlight growing gardens in the space of your own home. This class will focus on organic gardening. Master Gardener Program Coordinator Angela O’Callaghan will teach the principles of organic gardening and how they apply to the home gardener. . Registration is $10 and includes materials and guides sent via email.
  • Pahrump Farmers Market — Saturdays, 7:30 to 11 a.m. Pahrump Master Gardeners have opened a local farmers market in the Pahrump Tractor Supply Company parking lot at 900 East NV-372. Vendors will be selling locally grown produce, eggs, honey and more. With current social distancing measures, a maximum of 50 people is allowed in the market at once, and there is a limit of 15 vendor booths.
